Kybella® is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment used to reduce submental fullness or unwanted fat underneath the chin. While in the past men and women needed invasive procedures like liposuction to treat this fullness, Kybella® allows our patients to reduce the fat underneath the chin permanently without any cutting, anesthesia, or lengthy recovery period. Kybella® uses a specially formulated solution that, when injected into the treated areas, destroys the targeted fat cells which are then naturally eliminated from the body. With just two to four Kybella® treatments, patients can contour their jawline and reduce the appearance of their “double chin.”
The active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, is a man-made version of a substance your body already makes to break down dietary fat. Once fat cells under the chin are destroyed, they can no longer store or collect fat.

Kybella results are long-lasting. It destroys fat cells under the chin, and once those cells are destroyed they can no longer store or collect fat. Most people need two to four treatments, about a month apart, and see the full result 4 to 6 weeks after the last one. Kybella was studied in adults aged 18 to 65 with moderate to severe fullness under the chin.
Kybella at Glow Theory costs $650 per vial, or $553 per vial for Glow Getter VIP members. Most patients need more than one vial per session, and new clients save $65 on their first treatment.
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness under the chin. They are temporary and usually settle within a few days to a week. Less often, Kybella can injure a nerve in the jaw, causing an uneven smile, or cause trouble swallowing; both usually resolve on their own. Your injector will go through your medical history before treatment.
One of the most common side effects of Kybella is swelling, but this will go away quickly if you follow certain instructions. In most cases, the swelling will subside within a week. However, some patients may experience moderate swelling after the procedure. If this is the case, let your injector know.
Getting a Kybella injection is a quick, effective, and non-invasive way to reduce the size of your submental fat. But how long does it take to see results from the treatment? Depending on your needs, it can take anywhere from one to six months to get the desired results.
