The Glow Journal – Editorial Standards
How Glow Theory writes, checks and updates the articles in The Glow Journal, and how to tell us if something needs correcting.

These are the standards every new and updated article follows.

How We Write, Check and Update Articles
Who prepares our articles
Articles are prepared by the Glow Theory team. Each article names the team member responsible for it, with a link to their profile, role and experience, so you can see who stands behind it.
We write about the treatments and skin conditions we see at the studio every week, in plain language, and we explain medical terms when we use them.
How we check facts
Medical statements are checked against primary sources before an article is published:
- FDA prescribing information and FDA approval and clearance records
- Peer-reviewed studies and systematic reviews
- Guidance from professional bodies such as the American Academy of Dermatology
When the evidence is limited or experts disagree, we say so. When a treatment is used “off-label” (in a way the FDA has not specifically approved), we say that too. We avoid claims we cannot trace to a source.
Sources
Every article published or updated since October 2026 lists its main sources at the end, with links where they are available, so you can read them yourself. Older articles are being rewritten to the same standard.
Prices in our articles
Prices in our articles come directly from Glow Theory’s current price list, so they update automatically when our prices change. Your exact treatment plan and price are always confirmed at your visit, before treatment begins.
Updates and corrections
Each article shows the date it was published or last updated. We update articles when FDA approvals, product guidance or our prices change.
If you think something in an article is wrong or out of date, email contact@myglowtheory.com. We will check it and, if needed, correct the article and update its date.
Medical review
Glow Theory’s Medical Director is Dr. Jonathan Sykes, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon.
When an article has been individually reviewed by a physician, it says “Medically reviewed by” under the title, with the reviewer’s name and the date of the review. Articles without that line have not been individually reviewed by a physician.
Our articles are not medical advice
Our articles are general information to help you understand your options. They are not a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and they do not replace a consultation with a licensed provider who can examine you and review your medical history.
If you have a medical emergency, call 911. If you have a reaction after a treatment, contact the provider who treated you straight away.
Treatments we offer
Glow Theory offers many of the treatments we write about. When an article covers a treatment we provide, we link to its page so you can see our prices and results. We aim to explain every option fairly, including when another treatment, or no treatment, may suit you better.
