What Is Botox?
Botox Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that made from highly purified botulinum toxin. This protein, first identified in 1895, inhibits certain chemicals in the muscle that allow contraction to take place. When superficially injected into the targeted muscle groups, the inhibited muscles become more smooth; in turn, the overlying skin appears more smooth with less fine lines and wrinkles in the areas of treatment. Botox for the cosmetic treatment of wrinkles has now use safely for over 20 years! It is estimated that 4.4 million Botox treatments will be performed in 2022.
