How does BBL work?

1 min read

BBL is a form of laser treatment that deposits pulses of light energy to specific targets within the skin. This heat stimulates the growth of new skin cells in the targeted areas. This treatment is effective at removing brown spots caused by sun damage and conditions such as melasma. After the treatment the brown spots will darken and flake off over a period of days.

BBL HERO harnesses the power of broadband light, which is considered the gold standard of intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. During a BBL HERO treatment, quick pulses of light are directed through the upper layers of the skin at pigmented or vascular lesions. The pigment in the lesion absorbs the light, and biological processes destroy this target. Within days, the body naturally removes the pigmented cells, replacing them with fresh, undamaged cells. The skin in the treated area gradually appears clearer, younger and healthier.

Depending on the treatment plan, you may need three to six treatments at three to six weeks apart. Afterward, you can return to work and normal activities. Following your BBL session, we can suggest an appropriate skincare regimen to help you maintain your results.  Applying sunscreen daily is essential. In the first few weeks after the procedure, your skin may have some temporary dark spots. This is normal and is a sign of the treatment’s effectiveness. The pigment will scatter over time.
